Work hard, play hard

Wharton is such a “work hard, play hard” culture…or maybe I should say a “play hard, work hard” culture…

This past Thursday was Halloween and of course Wharton threw a huge costume party at one of the Philly night clubs.  I went as a purple crayon with a group of 4 other crayons. It was really cool to see how creative all of my fellow classmates could be.  There were guys dressed up as rock, paper, scissors.  There was a Captain Crunch, a bunch off trolls running around, and even more Mario and Luigi duos. The Halloween party was one of my favorites so far this year.

Unfortunately, I had to be up at 5:45am the next morning to travel to a prospective company in North Jersey that I am planning on applying to.  About 20 of us attended a “Day on the Job” or DOJ, which is basically an all day event at the company’s campus where you get to see the facility, meet more people, and learn more about what life would be like to work there.

While I was running on only 4 hours of sleep and nurturing quite the hangover, the DOJ experience was still awesome.  It really helped  me imagine myself working at that company and also allowed me to network with more of their employees.  And I think the companies look highly on those who are willing to give up their Fridays to spend a day at their company, so that’s always a good thing.

If you come to Wharton, you’ll definitely be pushing yourself and working hard, but you’ll be having the time of your life at the same time so it’s all worth it.

I was born and raised in Philly and I just can’t get enough of this city! I did my undergrad at Penn State (WE ARE!) and then spent ~4 years in pharmaceutical and healthcare consulting. I am so excited to be here at Wharton and to see where this MBA will take me in the future!
