One of the guest lecturers in our marketing class was the lovely Jennifer Yen. Jennifer is the founder of Purlisse cosmetics, but before she became an entrepreneur, she was the dark empress on the Power Rangers! (No joke, look it up!)
As an actress, Jennifer had to wear tons of makeup, which caused tons of skin problems for her. After trying dozens of treatments to no avail, she tried her grandmother’s suggestion of using white tea leaves, blue lotus and soy. And it worked! She was thus inspired to start her own line of cosmetics.
Jennifer shared stories about her struggles as an entrepreneur, and it is really striking to hear about the lows that entrepreneurs often have to suffer through in order to achieve success. I can’t help but admire the tenacity of entrepreneurs like Jennifer. It definitely helps to have a great personal story and a magnetic personality!
